Collection: Laine Groeneweg

Laine Groeneweg is an artist and printmaker living in Hamilton, Canada. He trained at Fondazione Il Bisonte Per Lo Studio Dell’Arte Grafica in Florence, Italy with a focus on traditional printmaking techniques.

For Laine working in print is as much a means of production as it is a source of inspiration and preservation. Laine Groeneweg’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in numerous private and public collections including the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts (Ekaterinburg, Russia), Art Gallery of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia), National Gallery of Australia (Canberra, Australia) and in the archives at Fondazione Il Bisonte (Florence,Italy).

Colour and shape have the unique ability to conjure up all kinds of memories and emotions simultaneously. In recent work, Laine Groeneweg has been investigating some of the relationships between form and colour by way of screen print.  In these prints, Laine offers a series of anamorphic compositions that are meant to be familiar and vague all in one glance and present a space where colours and shapes can play upon our personal associations with them.
